RESOLVA is assisting Nature Energy with the recruitment of an experienced lawyer to join a strong legal team in an exciting and growing company within renewables.

Nature Energy is looking for an ambitious and talented legal profile with a proven track record within construction and EPC related contracts to take on the role as Legal Director, Construction, in the legal team. You will need to have at least 6-7 years post-graduation experience working with EPC projects and various types of EPC related contracts, such as contracts with (sub-)contractors and consultants within construction and engineering.

You will play a key role in Nature Energy’s EPC projects and support the project teams with drafting and negotiating EPC related contracts, advising various stakeholders in the organisation about all aspects of EPC related contracts, and handling claims and disputes arising in the design or construction phase. The role requires strong legal and negotiation skills as well as competencies within project management. You will be the legal team’s head and expert within EPC related contracts, working independently with limited oversight and with responsibility for developing and implementing new templates and standards for Nature Energy’s EPC related contracts throughout their international markets.

In carrying out this role, you will be allocated leadership of/access to a team of 1-2 dedicated colleagues and will be working in close cooperation with Nature Energy’s design & development, construction and project support team members as well as external legal counsels in non-Danish jurisdictions.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

In the role as Legal Director, Construction, your main tasks will be the following:

  • Taking lead on and being responsible for all legal aspects of Nature Energy’s EPC-related activities, such as:
      • Developing and designing Nature Energy’s contractual framework for EPC related contracts, including templates and setups with (sub-)contractors and consultants within construction and engineering activities in Nature Energy’s international markets.
      • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating EPC contracts and other contracts relevant to the design and construction phase.
      • Handling pre-claims and claim activities and potentially disputes related to all EPC related activities.
  • Working closely with and advising other stakeholders in Nature Energy, especially colleagues within the Engineering, Construction, Procurement and Project Support departments, as well as project managers on Nature Energy’s EPC projects.
  • Instructing and working together with external legal advisors in larger EPC projects and in relation to claims and litigation.
  • Generally, providing commercially oriented legal advice to Nature Energy’s organisation, locally and internationally, regarding EPC projects.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES:

Education: You are a qualified Danish lawyer (cand.jur.).

Work Experience: You have at least 6-7 years post-graduation experience from working with EPC projects and related contracts as a lawyer in a law firm and/or as inhouse counsel in a larger organisation.

Energy industry: Ideally, your practical experience includes working with EPC projects in the energy industry (e.g. bio, solar or wind).

Stakeholder management: You have the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels in an organisation.

Language skills: You are fluent in English (both written and spoken).
