Lagkagehuset – Head of Group Legal

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Lagkagehuset is seeking a commercially minded Head of Group Legal to take overall responsibility for the Group’s legal agenda in a fast-paced retail and production business. You will work closely with key decision-makers in a company with a strong craftsmanship heritage and professional ownership, where legal support is expected to be pragmatic, commercial, and value-adding.

The role is closely integrated with the business and involves supporting both day-to-day operations and key strategic initiatives. As Head of Group Legal, you will provide pragmatic and solution-oriented legal advice across a broad range of areas, including corporate law, corporate governance, marketing law, and insurance matters, with a particular focus on real estate and lease law as well as commercial contracts.

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across the organisation, take an active role in negotiations, and ensure effective coordination with external counsel where specialised or local expertise is required.

Lagkagehuset is looking for a hands-on generalist with experience in corporate and commercial law, combined with solid experience in parts of real estate law, namely lease law. You are comfortable working close to the business and navigating a dynamic environment with shifting priorities. You are able to translate legal complexity into clear recommendations and support the organisation in making sound, well-informed decisions.

As Head of Group Legal at Lagkagehuset, you will be part of the Finance, Legal, IT & Store Design department. The role is based at Lagkagehuset’s headquarters in Denmark (Copenhagen NV) and supports all business units across Denmark, as well as the Ole & Steen operations in the UK and the US.

The role requires limited travel, with occasional trips primarily to the UK.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

As Head of Group Legal you will provide legal support to the business across Denmark, UK and US in relation to the following key areas:

  • Real estate and lease law: Lead the legal aspects on real estate and lease matters, e.g. in relation to negotiations and dispute handling, in close cooperation with the internal real estate function that handles the practical day-to-day real estate work.

  • Commercial contracts: Support the business with the development, review and negotiation of a broad range of commercial contracts. This includes supplier and purchasing agreements, cooperation and partnership agreements, service agreements, and technology/IT agreements (including SaaS and data processing agreements).

  • Company law and corporate governance: Support and advise on company law matters, including corporate governance (such as developing and maintaining appropriate policies) and corporate housekeeping across the Group.

  • Compliance and risk management: Drive and support the Group’s compliance and risk management work, including the development and implementation of compliance programmes within the Group (Denmark, the UK and the US). Further, you will coordinate with external legal counsel and advisers where specialist expertise or local legal guidance is required.

  • Insurance and claims: Ensure that the Group’s insurance arrangements are aligned with the Group’s risk exposure and business needs. Set the overall framework for insurance matters and maintain appropriate oversight, while day-to-day administration and claims handling are carried out elsewhere in the business.

  • IP and marketing support: Act as an internal point of contact for trademarks and other brand-related matters, including proper trademark registration, and provide legal support on marketing and consumer law matters in collaboration with agencies and external legal counsel.

  • General legal support: Act as a trusted legal adviser to the business, delivering pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice across a broad range of matters and supporting the organisation, on an ad hoc basis, in both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
