NTG – LEGAL COUNSEL – TRANSPORT LAW & COMMERCIAL CONTRACTS

ROLE DESCRIPTION

NTG is looking for an ambitious and talented lawyer with strong legal skills, experience, and interest in international commercial law (particularly with focus on transportation and logistics services) to take on the role as Legal Counsel.

As Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for providing business focused advice to all parts of NTG’s organization covering a range of legal areas, including transportation & shipping law, corporate and commercial law, and you will be negotiating and drafting a broad range of contract types across the company’s value chain. Further, you will be supporting and sparring with other business functions in relation to various legal issues, and you will be involved in managing outside counsel in relation to matters requiring external legal support.

In the position you will also have substantial exposure to group management, local management teams, and other key executive, administrative, and commercial functions in NTG.

You will report directly to the Group General Counsel, Pernille Korsager.

The role requires approximately 10-15 travel days per year.

LEGAL TEAM

Your work will be carried out in close cooperation with the rest of the dynamic NTG Group Legal department consisting of 8 FTEs headquartered in Hvidovre together with NTG’s global management and other corporate functions. The team consists of highly engaged in-house legal professionals supporting all parts of the organization.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

NTG is looking for a person who by nature takes ownership and has a strong drive and commercial mindset that enables independent and business focused support to the NTG organization. You must be open and eager to learn and have a strong ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the NTG organization.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a diverse array of domestic and international logistics and transport-related commercial contracts. This includes key customer contracts, project logistics agreements, agency agreements, 3PL agreements (Third-Party Logistics agreements), commercial lease agreements, and warehouse services agreements.
  • Provision of advice to the NTG organization in relation to Danish and international transportation and shipping law.
  • Managing transport related claims and disputes including communication with and management of external legal advisors.
  • Supporting the business in various day-to-day legal matters on a range of other legal subjects, including general corporate commercial law, intellectual property law, dispute resolution etc.
  • Participating with the rest of the legal team in designing and organizing processes for strengthening NTG’s contract processes (including drafting, maintaining, and implementing standard contracts, with a focus on international transport agreements) and facilitating training and educational courses on legal topics across the organization.

REPORTING AND TITLE

Reporting to: Group General Counsel, Pernille Korsager.

Title: Legal Counsel.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Education: A Master of Laws (cand.jur.) or a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Administration and Commercial Law (cand.merc.jur.).

Work experience: A minimum of 2 and ideally 4 – 5 years of experience from a law firm and/or in-house legal role in a larger corporation. Experience in the transport industry is an advantage but not a requirement.

Legal areas of specialization: An interest in, passion for and some experience with transportation law or international commercial contracts. Knowledge of other areas of commercial law would be a great plus.   

Commercial: Strong commercial mindset enabling you to balance legal requirements with the commercial drivers and goal of the business.

Language skills: The ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels in NTG’s organization in a clear and concise manner in both Danish and English.
