NUUDAY – SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL – ESG & REGULATORY

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Nuuday is looking for an ambitious and talented legal regulatory professional with solid skills, experience, and interest herein to take on the role as Senior Legal Counsel – ESG & Regulatory. You will be supporting the organization within a wide range of regulatory legal areas, including ESG, NIS2, AI, the Cyber Resilience Act, sanctions, etc. Initially, you will namely be supporting the organization within ESG which at times (e.g. in relation to specific ESG related projects) will constitute a significant part of your work. Experience and interest in ESG would therefore be a great advantage.

Organizationally, the regulatory work at Nuuday involves a range of corporate functions including the Legal Team, and the Compliance, Risk, Sustainability, Procurement, Public Affairs and Finance teams, and you will among other tasks be supporting the organization from a legal perspective in developing its ESG strategy and practices, mapping new relevant laws and regulations, and ensuring that such laws and regulations are implemented in alignment with Nuuday’s operating model and business principles.

You will play a vital role in addressing regulatory developments, developing and implementing the overall ESG agenda for Nuuday, and you will – together with other business units in the organization – in this respect have a special focus on responsible technology, responsible procurement and other ESG aspects of Nuuday’s business. You will also draft and implement policies and guidelines, and provide training as needed. In undertaking these tasks, you will interact with a variety of internal as well as external stakeholders.

You will be reporting directly to Head of Legal, Kristian Høeg Hagen Høgsbro.

To succeed in the role, you need to be pro-active by nature and practical, structured and business-oriented in your approach, and you are comfortable with dealing directly with various colleagues at all functional/managerial levels. You are a person who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and you possess the ability and willingness to support and advise within a broad field of legal areas and to adapt to changes, including changes that affect the prioritization of tasks.

You will be working from the offices at the Nuuday Head Quarter in central Copenhagen.

LEGAL TEAM

As Senior Legal Counsel – ESG & Regulatory, you will become part of the Legal Team, which is a core function in Nuuday’s organization and provides legal support to the Board and Committees, the Management Team and various group functions within a variety of legal areas.

The Legal Team currently consists of a team of 7 highly skilled and committed professionals (including Head of Legal, Kristian Høeg Hagen Høgsbro, 3 attorneys, 2 assistant attorneys, and 1 law student), who provide best in class legal and regulatory support and pull in the same direction and support each other, recognizing collaboration as their strength. The Legal Team is led by Head of Legal, Kristian Høeg Hagen Høgsbro.

The Legal Team is involved in all significant transactions within Nuuday’s business and is responsible for identification, assessment and mitigation of legal and regulatory risks. The team also provides advice and guidance to the Senior Management Team to ensure that the activities of Nuuday are conducted in a manner that complies with legal and regulatory requirements.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

As Senior Legal Counsel – ESG & Regulatory, you will be handling a range of tasks including:

  • Providing advice and guidance to the business on a broad range of legal regulatory topics, that could include, NIS2, AI, the Cyber Resilience Act, sanctions, etc. and providing specific advice on regulatory requirements related to Nuuday’s products. Further, you will be assisting with the development and implementation of policies and guidelines, mapping of relevant laws and regulations and with identification, assessment and mitigation of legal and regulatory risks, etc.
  • ESG will especially in the beginning and in relation to specific projects constitute a significant part of your work. This will among others include the following tasks:
  • Developing and implementing Nuuday’s ESG strategy together with other business units in Nuuday, including mapping new relevant laws and regulations and ensuring that such laws and regulations are implemented in the way Nuuday operates.
  • Making recommendations and draft ESG related requirements for vendor, customer and partner related documentation and contracts.
  • Drafting and implementing ESG policies and guidelines based on relevant existing and new regulation.
  • Developing and delivering training on relevant legal topics to Nuuday’s business units within ESG.

REPORTING AND TITLE

Reporting to: Head of Legal, Kristian Høeg Hagen Høgsbro.

Your title: Senior Legal Counsel – ESG & Regulatory.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Education: You have a master’s degree in law or business law (cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur.).

Ideal experience: You have proven practical experience of not less than 5 years (and potentially several more years) within relevant legal regulatory areas, preferable from a law firm and/or a group function in a private company.

Preferable (but not necessarily), you have experience, interest and a strong understanding of ESG regulation and frameworks.

Experience working in a digitally driven company and/or a regulated industry is considered an advantage.

Language skills: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in the Danish and English languages.

Communication: You have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to keep things simple by finding the right balance between important details and clear communication.
