Job description

Danmarks Skibskredit is looking for a skilled and experienced financial regulatory professional with a passion and flair for financial regulation, regulatory analysis and implementation to join the Legal & Regulatory Affairs team.

As a Senior Regulatory Affairs Advisor you will be a central expert for regulatory knowledge responsible for ensuring that financial regulation applicable to Danmarks Skibskredit’s business operations is identified, communicated, and implemented in a timely and effective manner. The role positions you as a critical interlink between the domestic and EU regulatory sphere and Danmarks Skibskredit’s business and activities across lending, funding, finance, risk management, regulatory reporting and compliance. Consequently, as Senior Regulatory Affairs Advisor at Danmarks Skibskredit you will engage with stakeholders on all levels and in all areas of the organization supporting colleagues with a targeted understanding of regulation applicable to the organization and taking an active role in its implementation ensuring that Danmarks Skibskredit stays on top of existing and upcoming financial regulation.

The Senior Regulatory Affairs Advisor role is a redefined role anchored in the Legal & Regulatory Affairs team where everyone takes ownership and contributes with passion and thus offers the potential to shape the role to meet the needs of Danmarks Skibskredit. The role further provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a diverse range of activities, advisory work, business areas and development initiatives.

You will report to Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs Gitte Vannus Kragelund who reports to a member of the Executive Board. 

The legal team

The legal team at Danmarks Skibskredit consists of two experienced legal professionals including the Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs, Gitte Vannus Kragelund and a Senior Legal Counsel. The legal team provides business focused advice to all parts of the organisation and sits together with the customer focused commercial team, Client Relations, that is led by the Chief Commercial Officer.

The Legal & Regulatory Affairs Team is involved in all legal and regulatory workstreams across Danmarks Skibskredit’s activities and interacts with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders in relation to Danmarks Skibskredit’s activities, including management, and the commercial, compliance, treasury and finance teams.

Responsibilities

As Senior Regulatory Affairs Advisor your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying new or amended regulation, policy change or regulatory initiatives and assessing its impact on Danmarks Skibskredit’s interest and business operations and business model.
  • Supporting the various business units in the interpretation and implementation of new or amended regulation.
  • Participating actively in external working groups, networks, and committees on financial regulatory matters relevant to the interests of Danmarks Skibskredit and representing the company’s interests in the legislative process.
  • Engaging in dialogue with regulatory authorities and submitting written consultation responses to domestic and EU agencies.
  • Participating in internal reporting, analysis and relevant advisory activities related to financial regulation applicable to credit institutions specifically and financial institutions involved in lending more generally.
  • Pro-actively keeping internal stakeholders such as relevant business units and the board of directors and management team informed of upcoming regulatory initiatives and their potential impact on Danmarks Skibskredit through dialogue, notes, and presentations.
  • Maintaining a specialist competence level in key regulatory areas relevant to credit institutions and bonds issuers.
  • Maintaining a current overview of applicable regulation and requirements impacting the organization and ensuring this remains transparent to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Handling ad hoc tasks related to other functions within the Legal & Regulatory Affairs team as required.

Ideal skills

You are an experienced financial regulatory professional with a thorough understanding of relevant domestic and EU regulations. It is essential that you are able to practically apply your strong academic skillset, understanding of regulatory processes and professional experience with complex financial regulation to effective implementation in the context of Danmarks Skibskredit’s regulatory exposure.

Education: You are a candidate with a relevant master’s degree( Master of Laws or MSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law) from a Danish university or Danish business school.

Work experience: You have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a similar role within the financial services sector or an organization’s legal, compliance or risk management functions or in management consultancy. You have a strong understanding of compliance, risks and regulatory issues in the financial sector.

Business acumen: You have a strong business acumen and practical experience in leading and facilitating implementation of financial regulation (proven project management experience would be a benefit).

Stakeholder management: You have great stakeholder management skills with an innate ability to create relationships with stakeholders externally as well as internally.

Language skills: You are proficient in Danish and English (both written and spoken).

Communication: You have excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex legal issues into actionable implementation steps.

Collaboration: You are used to working independently while at the same time recognising the value of being a strong team player who is ready to help out where required.
