JOB DESCRIPTION

RESOLVA is assisting Europæiske with the recruitment of a talented lawyer to take on the role as Legal Counsel. Europæiske is searching for a commercially oriented lawyer who is passionate about taking on a legal in-house role in a dynamic business where one will be exposed to a wealth of different legal tasks. You are a lawyer who can take on individual responsibility and drive a process but also enjoys being part of a legal team that cooperates closely.

In the role in the Nordic Legal & Compliance team you will benefit from being a hands-on and solution-oriented person with a strong commercial mindset. You should be organized and practical in your approach, and able to build strong relationships throughout Europæiske’s organization. You need to have solid legal skills and be able to keep the big picture in mind while adhering to relevant regulations.

THE LEGAL TEAM

The Nordic Legal & Compliance Team consists of 2  lawyers and a student, including the Head of Legal & Compliance. The team is responsible for all Europæiske’s legal and compliance matters in the Nordic region spanning from legal support in relation to a broad range of contract types, provision of advice to all levels of Europæiske’s organization in the Nordics, e.g. within contract law, marketing, insurance law, and compliance with GDPR and financial regulations (e.g. outsourcing), and communication with authorities, including the Danish FSA (Finanstilsynet) and the Danish DPA (Datatilsynet). Further, the team plays a role in managing the global insurance program, interpretation and drafting of insurance terms and assisting in handling difficult claims.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

As Legal Counsel, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and advising on a range of contracts such as customer and supplier agreements, agency and cooperation agreements, and contracts entered into as part of a procurement process with public authorities.
  • Advising Europæiske’s Scandinavian organization within a range of other legal areas, such as marketing law, insurance law, and general commercial law.
  • Managing regulatory matters related to key regulatory areas for Europæiske, including GDPR and financial regulations, such as outsourcing regulation.
  • Updating and interpreting Europæiske’s insurance terms and managing claims and disputes related to insurance agreements.
  • Overseeing disputes processes and working with specialist external firms regarding these.

Reporting to: This role will report to the Head of the Nordic Legal & Compliance team, Michala Hjarne.

Your title: Legal Counsel

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

Education: You are a candidate with a relevant master’s degree (Master of Laws or MSc in Business Administration and Commercial Law) from a Danish university or Danish business school.

Work experience: You have a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a large or medium sized corporate or a consultancy / law firm or similarly commercially oriented role. Preferably, you have solid experience with commercial contracting, and / or one or more compliance disciplines relevant to the financial sector (e.g. GDPR, outsourcing rules).

Business acumen: You have a strong business acumen and practical experience in working independently as advisor to commercial teams / organizations, and you are able to weigh commercial considerations against relevant legal risks.

Stakeholder management: You have great stakeholder management skills with an innate ability to create relationships with stakeholders externally as well as internally.

Language skills: You are proficient in Danish and English (both written and spoken).
