Job Description
Struers is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to establish a central legal function supporting Struers global business within legal & compliance. In the role as Senior Legal Counsel, your initial responsibility will be to establish Legal as a function and develop and ensure legal compliance with up-to-date legal policies and processes throughout Struers’ global business, e.g. within the areas of export control and sanctions.
Struers is a technology leader within materialography and has technology, data and insights as a clear competitive advantage and driver of its offerings. In a compliance context, this means that Struers is focused on optimising compliance efforts using the most optimal processes and tools available in the market.
In addition to legal compliance activities, you will be responsible for ensuring an adequate commercial legal support for contracting and corporate activities. This will entail ensuring that adequate contract and corporate standards are available along with check lists, standard terms and a model for providing advisory support to various internal functions.
The role as Senior Legal Counsel is globally focused, and you will be working closely with several key stakeholders in the Struers Group, including Corporate Management, Sales, Production, Research & Development and Supply Chain & Procurement.
You will be working from modern offices at Struers’ headquarters in Ballerup. The role requires occasional travelling.
Areas of Responsibility
In the role as Senior Legal Counsel, you will play an essential role in driving the legal & compliance efforts in Struers.
Your main responsibilities in respect of establishing and running the Legal function at Struers will be the following:
- Preparing and further developing and implementing policies and standards to drive and support the compliance culture and ensure awareness of legal compliance throughout the organisation, including by securing that Struers’ export control and sanctions policies and standards are in compliance with global laws and regulations.
- Proactively identifying potential compliance matters and providing support and advice as well as organisational training in order to ensure awareness and compliance. Keeping abreast of developments and trends in relevant legislation and the legal compliance industry.
- Generally, advising on and responding to ad-hoc requests and queries from various stakeholders across the different business units regarding a wide range of legal compliance matters, including export control, sanctions, privacy law etc.
- Supporting Struers’ organisation in relation to contracting, e.g. in relation to contract negotiations, and the development of contract standards and processes. This work will namely support sales and procurement teams but may also involve other teams, e.g. in relation to IP and employment matters.
- Aligning processes and enforcement of contractual terms and conditions. Providing advice on and managing instances of contract breach and disputes.

Your title: Senior Legal Counsel
The ideal experience
Education: You are a qualified lawyer (cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur.) with minimum 7 years of professional experience from a group function in a larger global company and/or a law firm.
Legal & Compliance: You have experience with legal compliance within one or more relevant areas, such as export control, sanctions and GDPR, and you are capable of providing strong legal guidance on a wide range of legal matters, e.g. in relation to contract negotiations.
Industry experience: Preferably, you have a proven track record of working with commercial issues from export, engineering, production and / or other technical industry and you have an international outlook and experience from an international environment.
Language skills: You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in the Danish and English language.
